ED: Changed “Silver Wolf King” to “Silverwolf Lord”. Also, the previous chapter was names “and a Hero (英雄)”, while this one is called “and a Hero (勇者)”. The first one was about Sera and means a hero/heroic person, while the second one is about Maria who’s a Hero with a <Hero> skill, so I’ve change the title of 63 to “and a Champion” to differentiate between them.

Chapter 64 – A Silverwolf Lord and a Hero
After flying through the sky for some time we’ve arrived at the entrance to the ‘Forest of Illusion’.
The place was enveloped in white mist, giving off a holy aura. While black-ish miasma was wafting through the air of the Undead King’s abandoned village, this could be said to be the exact opposite.
However, both the miasma and the mist housed evil monsters. To illustrate the fact, the remains of broken carriages were scattered around the entrance to the forest. Without a doubt, it must have been the work of the Silverwolf Lord.
This was proof that Maple’s words weren’t an exaggeration.
In addition, there was a fresh-looking corpse of a man, lying next to one of the wrecked carriages. While I did wonder what happened to the girls who were travelling in it, our main priority for today was still the subjugation of the Silverwolf Lord.
Although we were currently outside the forest, we could still access its map without a hitch, even from the adjacent area. Whatever the reason was that people got lost here for in the past, it never hurts to have a map.
Hence, we’ve spent some time gathering information.
“Yep, we’ve confirmed all the information about the forest. Hmm, it seems like the small spirits inhabiting the forest use <Illusion Magic>, causing people’s sense of direction to go haywire.”
Analysing the information about the ‘Forest of Illusions’, that we had gather from the map, we could easily figure out such things as “reasons for getting lost”, “information of the Silverwolf Lord” and “the location of the captured girls”.
Silverwolf Lord

Note: A large wolf with fur that glows silver. Not actually silver.
It seemed like the Silverwolf Lord was a close combat specialist. Since its level and status were both high, it was a conventionally strong opponent. Let me set Maria’s status at about 1%.
Just as I was thinking about it, the 3 demon girls glanced in my direction with dumbstruck faces.
“… Isn’t honey’s special ability way too unreasonable☆”
“Yep.”
“There’s no way it can win now.”
Saying something like that at this point sure put me in the spotlight. Since this was business as usual, there was nothing left for the Silverwolf Lord to do, but to give up.
In addition, while ‘The Forest of Illusions’ may sound like a fun place, won’t that complicate things for us? Even if I’m wrong, I don’t think it’s a course we can complete in half a day, to head home before dark.
“Because it’s Jin-sama.”
“That’s why~!”
Was Maria and Dora’s reasoning…
“It’s reassuring to think of him as our ally…”
“Why did this mistress take on a battle she had absolutely no chance of winning…?”
“Tira-chan has been submissive from the start♪”
After giving it some thought, the demon girls seemed to have given up.
Well, that’s enough chit-chat for now. I guess we should quickly head in.
Inside the forest, the mist became even thicker. Since we were in a situation where we could barely see a few steps ahead of ourselves, it seemed like we’d get lost if we became even a little bit separated. That is, if we didn’t have a map…
Natural traps were set here and there. It was extremely dangerous to even move about, with vines, that would cause you to get suspended in mid-air if you stepped on them, and bottomless lakes around. That is, if we didn’t have a map…
Since it seemed like the monsters in the forest weren’t affected by the mist, they could accurately grasp our position to attack us, forcing us into an unfair fight. That is, if we didn’t have a map…
All those things showed up on the map.
Completely disregarding the challenges of the ‘Forest of Illusions’, we managed to approach the Silverwolf Lord’s dwelling without wasting too much time.
If I were to be honest, I’d already picked up a habit of frequently checking the map while advancing, when we were conquering the dungeon, so we faced absolutely no difficulties.
The Silverwolf Lord’s dwelling was a cave, and according to the map, it was waiting for us by the entrance. It must have a good sense of smell. It seemed to have noticed us after picking up on our scent.
After advancing further, the Silverwolf Lord’s figure finally came into view. It seemed like there wasn’t much mist around its dwelling. We could make sense of our surroundings to some extent. (Although this barely mattered, because we had a map).
The Silverwolf Lord was an enormous wolf monster spanning over 5m. It had a beautiful fur coat, which glistened silver, and masculine features.
“Grrrrr. Howl!!!”
The Silverwolf Lord yelled at us.
But if you translate what it was actually saying, it went like this:
” Grrrrr. Howl!!! (The women came on their own. Yay!!!!)”
What a piece of scum. Just as the information we had, said, it was an absolute waste.
Oh, I asked Sakura-san to create the translation magic “Connect”, so that I wouldn’t have to rely on Maple for translating all the time.
Although, to be honest, I’m pretty sure I didn’t want to listen to this…
“Grrrr? Grrrr? Grrrr? (Huh? Are you a sea serpent? Could it be that you’re here to be my woman?)”
The Silverwolf Lord, who had noticed Maple’s presence, uttered a delusion that was quite convenient for him.
While it probably hadn’t recognized her, as she was currently in her human form, it most likely judged her race based on her smell.
“Unfortunately, you’re completely wrong. I’ve come because my master wishes to see you subjugated.”
“Grr! Howl! Howl! (What, really? Shit! I should’ve forced myself to fuck her!)”
This must be the ultimate piece of scum. It’s even worse than what we’ve been told…
“Grrrr, grrrr. Grrrr, grrrr. (Whatever, a woman is still a woman. Let’s kill the man and have fun with the women.)”
“Jin-sama, can I kill it now?”
“Sure. Make sure you beat it into a pulp.”
“Yes.”
Even if Maria made a rather disturbing request, I had no good reason to refuse her.
Although it looked cool enough, that I would want to tame it, there’s no way I could, when it was so rotten on the inside… Hmm, maybe I’ll let my tamed slime, Tamo, mimic it afterwards…
“Grrrr? Howl! Grrrr! Gr, gr. Howl! (You’re gonna kill me? That’s a funny joke! A little boy and a little girl who haven’t lived a tenth of my life can’t kill me! Even if there’s a sea serpent, this is my turf. There’s no way I’m going to lose!!)”
As he said that, the Silverwolf Lord poured its strength into its legs.
“Grrr! Howl! (Enough talking! Let the man die first!)”
Jumping towards me, the Silverwolf Lord swung his sharp, huge claws at me.
“In order to reach him, you first have to go through me.”
Maria’s sword appeared in front of me, stopping the wolf’s attack. With Maria’s interference, the Silverwolf Lord’s huge body was left momentarily hanging in mid-air. At that moment, Maria swung her sword and flung the Silverwolf Lord away.
“”Grrrr! (Seriously!?!)”
The Silverwolf Lord howled, as it spun in the air and landed on the ground.
“I won’t let you approach Jin-sama.”
“”Grrrr, grrrr, grr. Whoa! (Tsk, I enjoy raping women before killing them, but if you’re going to get in my way, don’t blame me for being impolite. You’ll be more obedient after I cut off one or two of your arms!)”
The moment she heard that line, obvious displeasure appeared on Maria’s face.
Maria was missing an arm when I purchased her. Later, I heard that that had been caused by a fangwolf. So, now, that the highest breed of wolf has told her that she will “lose an arm”, it’s no wonder she was mad…
After becoming my slave, Maria has never expressed fear, or hatred, for fangwolves. She didn’t cower when fangwolves attack her, and she didn’t go out of her way to hunt them. But that didn’t mean that she got over what had happened.
“Jin-sama, will you allow me to wield my sword out of personal grudge, no, out of spite?
“Do what you want.”
“Thank you.”
Maria seemed to know that this was an act of pure vengeance. While the Silverwolf Lord was indeed harmful, it had nothing to do with her incident.
Maria poured magic into her Legendary class twin swords, the ‘Sun Sword – Sol’ and the ‘Moonlight Sword – Luna’. The two swords became transparent in response.
“Grr!? (The weapons disappeared!?)”
“Here I go.”
Maria kicked off the ground, ignoring the surprised Silverwolf Lord. Even without using <Flash Step>, Maria was the fastest one among us. She closed the distance in an instant, repeatedly slashing at the Silverwolf Lord with her invisible swords.
“Haa!”
“Gr! ? (So fast!?)”
The Silverwolf Lord managed to dodge her slash by jumping back. However, it was unable to completely avoid it, and ended up getting cut on the front of its right leg.
“Growl! Howl! (Ow! You bastard!)”
“Did you really think that such a desperate attack would work?”
As it screamed in pain, it swung its claws at Maria, but her swords struck the claws and effortlessly cut them off.
“Growl!? Grrrrr! Howl! (My claws!? I can’t seriously take on this monster as my opponent! Time for a strategic retreat!)”
“I’m not letting you escape!”
Maria gave chase as the Silverwolf Lord turned his back on us and escaped towards its dwelling.
Come to think of it, Maple did say it was a monster that would run away without hesitation, if it were at a disadvantage… It really is worthless.
We followed Maria into the cave.
There, we found a beat-up Silverwolf Lord in the midst of a stand-off with Maria, as it pointed its claws at the women it had previously captured.
From the looks of it, it was holding one well-dressed woman, two young girls, and a little girl captive. At the end of the room laid a single female corpse with both her clothes and body in tatters, so the Silverwolf Lord had probably killed her after toying with her for some time.
“Grrr! Howl! (Don’t come any closer! I’ll kill them if you do!) “
“Oh no! Help me! Please help me!”
“I’m scared! Mama!”
The scene of a Silverwolf Lord, and the frightened women. made it look like the villain of a certain trilogy.[1]
Now, how will Maria react…
“Do what you want. What does it matter to me if they die?”
“What!?”
“Mama!”
The woman cried out in astonishment, while the little girl burst out in tears. One of the young girls fainted upon hearing the words, while the other started praying.
How could these people, who had nothing to do with us, be used as hostages against Maria in the first place…?
“‘Growwwl ……, grl! Grrr! Howl, Howl! (I ain’t lying… I’ll really kill them! Shit! It’s a shame, but I’ll kill at least one of them to prove my point!”
The cornered Silverwolf Lord seemed to have misinterpreted Maria’s words as a forced show of strength. It swung its claws straight down at the praying young girl.
-Clang!-
However, just before the claws reached their mark, they made a sound of being flung away, as if they had hit something solid.
“‘Grow! ?(What?!?)”
“While it doesn’t matter to me if they die, Jin-sama did tell me to ‘beat you to a pulp’, so I won’t allow you to do as you please. Die, without managing a single attack.”
By the way, what Maria just used was <Barrier Magic>.
When her skill reached level 3, she gained the ability to put up barriers by anywhere in sight. This meant that she was now able to protect people from an attack even from a distance.
You can completely overturn your opponent’s plans just by placing barriers around the hostages. It was a very useful skill, well suited for a Hero.
“Grrr ……, Gr……. Gulp! (Damn… I’m about to get killed… Shit!)”
“Are you running away again…?”
Maria chased after the running Silverwolf Lord in disgust. After checking the map, they seemed to have left through a different passage, than the one we entered through, and were currently moving through the forest.
Since the Silverwolf Lord was probably more accustomed to moving through the forest, Maria was unable to close the distance. Just as I had that thought, Maria suddenly began to close the gap. Upon closer inspection, Maria seemed to be changing directions in mid-air as she jumped about. What’s going on?
A: She is using <Barrier Magic> to create footholds in the air that enable her to perform airborne manoeuvrers.
It seemed like Maria was moving through the air using barriers created by <Barrier Magic>. Since she no longer had to worry about her footing and could leap straight forward, she was able to move at a much faster speed than before.
As usual, Maria’s senses were outstanding. This meant that Maria had now acquired aerial combat abilities that rivalled the <Flight> skill. I wonder how much stronger she will get…
As for me? Well, I can fly with Nosferatu…
After watching for a while, it seemed like Maria had sliced off Silverwolf Lord’s right paw. Since it did say that it wanted to cut off her arm, I guess she was trying to return the favour.
The left hind leg of the immobilized Silverwolf Lord was slashed away as well. Finally, the Silverwolf Lord collapsed with his movements almost completely sealed.
“It looks like the fight is over. Now, shall we join Maria?”
“Ooh~!”
“Yes♪”
“Hmm.”
“Got it.”
After listening to everyone’s reactions, I turned my attention to the captured women.
They all seemed to have lost their strength, as they sat limply on the cave’s floor. The girl, who almost got hit by the claws, seemed to have leaked, and her feet were now wet.
“What about you guys?”
“Please, take us with you! We’ll do anything!”
The girl who had wet herself answered immediately.
“Then, become my slaves. If you refuse, I’ll leave you here.”
I said those devilish words without a moment’s hesitation.
No, I mean, no matter how much I think about it, isn’t it going to be difficult to fool them? We’ve already done a lot of things, and when I think about the hassle it’d be to deceive them, wouldn’t it be easier to just make them my slaves and explain things to them later?
“A, a slave…?”
“I’ll do it! I’ll become your slave, so please save me!”
In contrast to the hesitant woman, the young girl, who had wet herself, agreed to become a slave without hesitation.
“I’ll become a slave too, so please help me!”
“Me, me too…”
“Please help me…”
Eventually, they all agreed, so they stripped (willingly) and I carved slave crests onto their backs. Resistance was futile.
“Now, Maple, get these girls on board.”
“As you wish!”
I had Maple turn into a sea serpent and put the women on her back.
I’ll omit the reactions of the naturally surprised women. After that, the girl who wet herself looked like she was having trouble staying on, so I applied <Life Magic>’s “Clean” as usual.
“So it’s alright with 4 passengers ☆ but with me alone you’re over capacity ☆”
I ignored Tiramisu’s grumblings about her weight.
I used the “Portal” set up by Maria, to join her, and then “Summon” to draw the other members to us. [1]
“I’ve been waiting for you, Jin-sama.”
“Oh, good work. Haven’t you finished it yet?”
There, the Silverwolf Lord, who had its front right and rear left leg cut off, and the base of its remaining rear right leg skewered with a sword, was rendered completely immobile. Yeah, she certainly pulled no punches.
“Yes. I thought it would be a good idea to wait for Jin-sama to catch up…”
“You could have just finished it off…”
It was troublesome enough that she was making an “I’ve left the best parts…” face.
“Grrr! Grrrr! (Help! Please help me!)”
The Silverwolf Lord begged for its life as it laid collapsed on the ground.
“Growl! Gr? Grrr! (You’re taming demons, right? I can be tamed too, so please help me!)”
It must have remembered that Maple had called me “master” before. Begging for its life, it was trying to negotiate.
Unfortunately, since I’ve seen what it’s done so far, my desire to tame it was clearly at 0.
However, there was something that bothered me a little, so I approached it. When I was within 2m of it, the Silverwolf Lord turned towards me and waved its remaining left paw at me.
“Growl… (I’m taking this guy hostage…)”
-Toss-
Before it could finish its line, its head got skewered. It seems that Maria used “Warp” to close the distance and stabbed her “Sun Sword – Sol” through the Silverwolf Lord’s head.
“Jin-sama! Please don’t do anything to expose yourself to danger!”
Maria appealed to me with tears in her eyes. I wasn’t sure what to do. I could easily avoid it, and even if it did hit me, the damage would be almost zero.
“Sorry about that. I was just wondering about something…”
“GYAU? (What’s that?)” [2]
“Yeah, I was wondering if such an obvious villain would actually go quietly in that situation.”
“It was a villain till the end ☆”
I knew that if I had carelessly approached it in that situation, it would definitely try to attack me.
And as expected, it was a piece of trash through and through.
Now that we’ve defeated the Silverwolf Lord, we were left with all the post-processing. I put its corpse in the Inventory and returned to its dwelling.
“It really was a piece of trash, that Silverwolf Lord…”
There was a large number of female corpses in one part of the cave. Carefully arranged, they looked as if they were part of a prized collection.
Including the dead body of the woman from earlier, a considerable number of people must have fallen victim to it. Definitely over three digits.
It didn’t sit right with us to leave them like this, so we’ve decided to dig a hole outside the cave and bury the corpses of the women.
The reason why we took them outside, was because we thought that they wouldn’t want to rest in the Silverwolf Lord’s dwelling.
We planned to bury the bodies of the men, discarded in front of the forest, in the same place later. Most of them were probably related, so burying them together sounded like a good idea.
With just the Immortal King and the Silverwolf Lord, the number of their victims had already added up to a considerable amount. Because of that, exterminating those evil monsters had become almost synonymous with disposing of all the bodies of their victims, making me feel like I should to do something about it.
Well, I could also think about it as trying to prevent any further damage.
In addition to the corpses of the women, there was also a good amount of valuables in the dwelling. Most likely they were things stolen from the horse carriages.
“So, that Silverwolf Lord also enjoyed collecting treasures…”
“I’m sure it’s all probably stolen loot.”
As a principle, it seems that the Silverwolf Lord first got the women, and then moved on to gold and other treasures. Scum through and through.
“The adventurer gains ownership of items recovered from bandits, but what happens to the ownership of items recovered from monsters?”
A: The ownership is transferred to the person who defeated it. There are also monsters that collect precious metals.
If that’s the case, there’s no problem with me taking it. I have a policy of refusing to buy back items recovered from bandits, so I guess I’ll refuse to buy these ones back too.
Basically, the refusal to buy back was a measure to avoid unpleasant problems (interacting with nobles), but in this case there were two other reasons.
The first was that I couldn’t explain how we got it back, without revealing what we’re capable of. We’ve taken too many liberties. It would be very difficult to talk about it in a deceptive way.
Secondly, how would I find the owners in the first place? It was a monster that had been alive for a long time, and in many cases, the people directly involved were probably long dead. Even if I were to report it, there was little chance that the original owner would come to me. The person in question would have been killed by the Silverwolf Lord almost 100% of the time…
So, I decided that it would be a waste of time to send it back for repurchase in any case.
“Maria, we’re going to retrieve the treasure that Silverwolf Lord had been hoarding.”
“Yes.”
“Ah, I’ll help too☆”
“Dora too”
Everyone split up to store the treasure in the Inventory.
After that, we gathered up the bodies outside the forest and buried them together with the bodies of the women a short distance away from Silverwolf Lord’s dwelling.
Let me tell you a little about the women who we’d rescued from captivity.
The oldest woman is in her early twenties, and is the mother of the youngest girl. The two young girls are sisters, daughters of the woman who had been killed by Silverwolf Lord. The oldest woman had sacrificed herself to buy time for the rest. Coincidentally, that’s why we managed to make it in time.
The girls were relatives and were moving when they were attacked by Silverwolf Lord. The guards and their male parent were killed on the spot, while the women were kidnapped by the Silverwolf Lord.
Originally, they ran a store run with their relatives in the Nalunka Kingdom, which was our next destination, or rather on our way. However, the situation in the country has been getting so bad in the past few years, they decided to make a gamble and move out of the country.
A: Taxes in the Nalunka Kingdom have risen sharply over the past few years, and life has become quite difficult for the poor. It had also proven difficult to enter the kingdom for the Advance Chamber of Commerce, so we’ve sent some adventurers instead, but they haven’t been able to reach the capital yet. Depending on the situation, I was thinking of proposing a roundabout route to the Crimson Empire.
Taxes mean state management, right? In other words, it’s trouble related to the nobility.
It’s not going to be an enjoyable trouble… I think we should go with the policy of ignoring the whole country, either by bypassing it, or flying over it.
It’s not like we’re running away. We just don’t want to deal with trouble we can’t enjoy. Just in case you don’t like running away, we’re not- we’re going around.
Let’s return to the women’s story.
In order words, they have nowhere to return to.
They were on their way to a new home when their entire carriage and family were attacked. While they do have their belongings, they wouldn’t be able to do anything on their own. The men they had relied on had been killed, and…
That’s why we’ve decided to leave them in the care of the Advance Chamber of Commerce. Since they did mention that they had been running a business, I’m sure all of them, save for the youngest one, should have some idea of what to do.
Also, they wanted to bury their family members themselves, so I put their corpses in the Inventory separately. They’re planning to mourn them when they’ve settled down.
After we finished subjugating the two evil monsters, we decided to return to Kastal’s mansion. Because of all the things that we’ve been doing, it’s already getting late in the day.
In addition, Maple and Chocolate knew about about a lot more evil monsters inhabiting the region. I’m not sure how the Atto Union managed to stay intact until now.
“I’m sure there are a lot of countries that have been destroyed… You can even see them from the sky… “
“That’s right, even this mistress knows of at least three of them.”
They were not fine at all.
It seems that most evil monster, like the Immortal King and Silverwolf Lord, don’t commit any evil acts that stand out too much. However, it seems to be a common trait of such monsters, that they have quite a few victims who are not visible to the public…
“If honey wants, Tira-chan can go and defeat the monsters ☆”
“That’s another possibility…”
Isn’t it a good idea to have Tiramisu and her team hunt the demons in the Atto Union, just like Claude and his team of adventurers in the Kastal Queendom, and Cynthia and her team of explorers in the Estia Kingdom?
We can’t just go around killing monsters all the time. However, there are a lot of evil monsters in this country that are very unpleasant, and we want to reduce their numbers as much as we can.
With the knowledgeable Maple and Chocolate, plus Tiramisu, it is unlikely they would get defeated by such monsters. We may even be able to steal some rare skills…
“Okay, let’s use Tiramisu’s idea. Tiramisu, Maple, and Chocolate, after we leave this country, you three will be in charge of ‘defeating evil monsters’ around the Atto Union. We’ll start with the ones that Maple and Chocolate know about.”
“Okay♪”
“Got it.”
“Sure, leave it to us.”
In this way, the work of the demon girls who were assigned to the Atto Union was decided.
“Welcome back! Your eggs are ready!”
“Welcome back…”
“Welcome back.
When I opened the door to the mansion, I was greeted by Mio, Sakura and Sara.
I’m actually looking forward to eating Mio’s eggs, which she had practised all day today.
“Oh, welcome back onii-chan!”
“Welcome back, Jin-sama.”
Coming from the side were Sakuya, Queen of Kastal Queendom, and Cattleya, Princess of Estia Kingdom. Even I was surprised that the Japanese and Western style beauties had lined up to greet me.
“Why are you two here?”
“Harpies!”
“I heard they serve eggs!
They cheerfully answered my question. The two of them were well-known for their fascination with our food (at least among my subordinates). They must have heard about harpy eggs from somewhere and came here for dinner.
“You can eat them, but you’re going to pay for them, right?”
“What?”
They froze in place.
The expensive harpy eggs had been prepared by Mio, a first-class chef. If you look at it from the general public’s point of view, the price would be quite high.
“I’m just kidding.”
“That’s not funny, onii-chan. Though, of course I’d pay for it if you really wanted me to…”
“Yes, that’s not funny at all. I’ve already calculated how many meals my pocket money could cover.”
They looked relieved, but apparently not eating the harpy eggs was not an option.
“Also, I heard that you have the eggs of a Harpy Queen.”
“Oh yeah, you have to let us eat them! We’ll do anything!”
Apparently, that was their main concern.
“Oh, the Queen’s eggs are for tomorrow morning. You can have a bite after master has eaten.”
“We’ll definitely come back tomorrow morning!”
The beautiful royal girls shouted in response to Mio’s comment. They sure get along well.
“Yes, Master. It’s the best oyakodon (Parent-Child Don) I’ve ever had.”
“Parent… child…?”
When I arrived at the table, I was presented with a delicious-smelling oyakodon. It’s an oyakodon made with harpy eggs.
An oyakodon is a dish in which the meat of the chicken, the parent, is enclosed by the egg, the child.
I checked the map and counted the number of harpies.
Thank God… They’re all alive.
“Don’t scare me like that. I thought you were using actual harpy meat.”
“No, no matter how much I like to cook, I would never go that far… It’s just regular chicken. Since the cheap stuff doesn’t go well with harpy eggs, I bought slightly more expensive ones.”
Mio said, looking disappointed. But then came Maria’s killer response.
“But if we use recovery magic and “Revive”, we can recover the bird meat while keeping the harpy alive, can’t we?”
The harpies in the house all ran away.
I called them all back with “Summon”. The harpies looked at Maria with fear as they shook and huddled together.
“That’s not the problem, Maria. You can heal it, but it still hurts. Don’t scare them like that.”
“As always you are right. I’m sorry.”
Maria seems to have come to believe that as long as she has “Revive”, her physical deficiencies are no big deal. Even though she can recover… It’s still a big deal, you know?
Also, aside from eggs, I would never do something as bizarre as eating an almost humanoid monster.
Oh, the oyakodon was delicious. Mio was right though, the taste of the chicken was overpowered by the taste of the eggs.

ED Notes:
[1] My money’s on Hans Gruber, but there’s probably too many to count. Plus, it’s not a trilogy any more, even if some people wish, it had stayed that way.

[1] Not sure why they couldn’t all just go through the portal, like they always do…
