Blessing from the Goddess and Transfer to Another World! ~No Thanks, I Don’t Need a Special Ability~ Chapter 71

Deepl of the day: ‘You can find a lot of people who are looking for the best way to get the most out of their life.’ and ‘It’s also a great way to get your hands on some of the world’s most sought-after jewellery.’ Well, I’m riffing on it a lot, but it actually works reasonably well, …when it does work (roughly 80% of the time).

Chapter 71 – Mother and Daughter Golden Foxes and Another Curse Mark

Checking on the map, I found the mother and daughter Golden Foxes in the throne room. The King is also there, …laying down unconscious on the floor next to the throne.

Incidentally, the rest of the royal family is in an underground prison. They don’t seem to be infected with madness, but they have all been brainwashed. They aren’t even moving. The Golden Fox must have brainwashed them before she’d gone mad.

We headed for the throne room, leaving the enslaving to the maids. They are surprisingly proficient at it, …must have had a lot of practice.

A: We don’t force people into slavery, but we do use ‘Slave Arts’ whenever people want to sell themselves in impoverished villages. In order to collect slaves more efficiently, Lucia is considering the possibility of running a slave trading business.

…You’d go that far, Lucia? I mean, can a slave even become a slave trader?

A: If you hide the slave crest, there is no problem, since slaves can use ‘Slave Arts’ too.

Is that so… But I would still like you to stop her for me. I think that’s going too far.

A: I’ll let her know. She said she will stop.

So fast!

A: I asked her, and she immediately agreed.

That’s just like her…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After walking for a while, we arrived in front of the throne room. The Golden Foxes are inside, but they don’t seem to be moving. What’s going on here?
“Let me go first, Jin-sama.”
“Oh, I’ll stay behind you. I’m an archer after all.”
“Then, I’ll stay by Master’s side.”
Sera stood beside me while Mio moved to the back. With everyone in formation, Maria opened the door.
“Ha~, ha~, …did someone manage to reach this far?” (ED: gasping for air)
“It’s a surprise.”
The only ones inside the throne room are the mother and daughter Golden Foxes pair. The King is also here, but he’s just laying there unconscious, so I’ll omit him for now.
The mother, Tsukiyo is blond, with golden eyes and long hair tied up behind her head. She’s a little shorter than Sera, but can rival her in the breast department. Based on just that, you might think she resembles Sera, but they actually feel totally different. If Sera is a dignified beauty, Tsukiyo has more of a comforting motherly charm to her.
The daughter is also blond with golden eyes, …They are both Golden Foxes, so I guess it’s fitting in a way. She is 10 years old and has a bob haircut, though her chest is rather well developed for her age. …They look like they’re bigger than Sakura’s.
Tsukiyo is wearing a red kimono, while Tokoyo has a cute yellow one. Even though they are blond, they actually look really good in them, though Tsukiyo’s chest area is wide open. Or rather, she seems to be out of breath and sweating a lot. It’s actually kind of sexy.
“Hmm? Wait, how are you still able to talk while mad?”
I’m sure I heard them talking when we opened the door.
“Ha~, ha~, …you seem to know about my condition, …this is, …quite promising…”
“Mother…”
Tsukiyo gave me an expectant look, while Tokoyo looked at her from the side with worry.
“Ha~, …about my condition, …how much do you know…?”
“You’re a Golden Fox that transformed into a human form in order to rule this country from behind the scenes. Currently, you’re in a state of madness, and all the people in the royal palace have also been infected. I think that about covers it.”
Hearing my answer to Tsukiyo’s question, they both looked surprised.
“Fufufu~, …That’s good. I seem to have met someone interesting at the very end.”
“Is there really no other way?”
“Ha~, ha~, …I’m already at my limit Tokoyo. I don’t think I can hold on for much longer…”
“I’m sorry, but can you please speak in a way that I can understand? It’s rude to ask a question and then ignore me.”
No one likes to be left out of the conversation.
“Ha~, ha~, sorry, …I have a favour to ask of you. Please, …kill me. I’ve managed to keep my sanity for now, but not for long. …I don’t want to go mad and end up as a mindless beast. I want to die while I’m still me.”
“Well, I don’t want to.”
“What!?”
No, you shouldn’t be so surprised. I obviously don’t want to kill the person who I came here to tame.
“Ha~, ha~,  …you’re not, …here to kill me, are you…?
“No, I’m here to tame you, mother and daughter both. I’m not going to kill you.”
“Fufufu~, …I’m sorry to hear that. But you can’t tame a monster that has gone mad. Didn’t you know that…?”
“It won’t be a problem. Here.”
With the new ability I got when ‘Give and Take’ reached level 7, I can now disable the effects of ‘Lust’, so I can tame even the monsters with the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ curse marks. Still, It kind of feels like an argument between children, when they say things like ‘I negate your negation’. I unlocked it right after the fight with the Giant Man-Eater, so at first I thought it was really poor timing, but now that I think about it, it was just in time for my fight with the Golden Foxes. I’m sorry I ever doubted you, Unique Skills …I sincerely apologize.
“Eh? Did the madness disappear?”
“Really?”
“Yes, the head-numbing pain is gone and I can move my body like normal. I can’t believe it…”
It seems I was able to successfully disable ‘Lust’, making Tsukiyo’s complexion improve.
“OK, done. Now, let me tame you.”
“Master, even if you tell her that …No, wait, both Dora-chan and Midori-chan didn’t resist when you tamed them.”
Mio tried to jab at me, but stopped halfway, since there was actually precedent.
“There was also that dinosaur egg.”
“I don’t think that really counts though.”
This time, it was Sera who made a joke, but Maria disputed her.
“Fufufu, you seem to be quite an extraordinary person. You could so easily cure the madness that was tormenting me. …But if you want to tame me, you’ll have to fight and defeat me first. My pride will not allow me to give my body to someone weaker than me.”
“Of course. I was going to from the start.”
“Fufufu, how confident of you. I’ve lived for over 1000 years, but I don’t think I’ve ever met someone so interesting.”
Tsukiyo smiled seductively. Despite her maternal charm, she has amazing sex appeal. Honestly, I’m starting to fall for her.
“So, do you want to fight in here? It’s pretty cramped, so why don’t we use Tokoyo’s skill to stretch it a bit.”
“”!?””
Tsukiyo and Tokoyo both looked at me amazed.
“…Who are you?”
“I’ll tell you after I tame you.”
“I’m beginning to want you to. …But I can’t just let you without a fight. Tokoyo, if you would.”
“Okay.”
Saying that, Tokoyo made a gesture like holding a ball with both hands. A pitch black sphere appeared in the middle, that kept expanding, as she pulled her hands apart. And so did the space around us.
It’s still the same throne room as before, but the scenery is clearly different. The ceiling is ten times higher than it was. If you look at the tiles on the floor, they’re bigger as well, so it feels like either we all got smaller or our surroundings got bigger.
“Cut, stretch, and fix.”
Tokoyo muttered, though I wasn’t sure what she meant by that.
“Fufufu, they won’t understand if you say it like that Tokoyo. The throne room has been separated from the surrounding area, stretched out about 50 times, and then fixed to protect it from collapsing upon itself. Now we can fight without worry.”
“I see. So we can fight to our heart’s content.”
As expected, the ‘Spatial Manipulation’ skill is really amazing.
“Now, let’s fight.”
“Sure.”
Thanks to the use of ‘Spatial Manipulation’, Tsukiyo and I were now a considerable distance apart. She used her ‘Spacial Magic’s ‘Storage’ spell and took out a bow and some arrows.
“Here I go!”
Saying that, she shot an arrow at me without any warning.
“Whoa there.”
I cut the arrow down with ‘Soul Blade – Tangerine’. If it’s only level 5 of ‘Bow Mastery’ skill, I can do that much on reflex alone.
“…still, I’m quite confident in my archery skills…”
“Isn’t there something else you’re better at? Like, let’s say, ‘Fire Magic’, ‘Dark Magic’, or ‘Illusion Magic’? You’re better with magic than weapons, so why not come at me with that.”
“…It’s no use being surprised when it comes to you, it seems. Very well. I’ll come at you without holding back.”
Saying that, she released a hundred spells at once.
…though half of them are illusions made with ‘Illusion Magic’.
Half of the rest, so a quarter, are ‘Volcano Shots’, a level 5 ‘Fire Magic’ spell that fires a fireball of about 5m in size, so it’s pretty much a single-shot version of the level 9 spell ‘Volcano Blast’, while the rest are ‘Dark Matter Shots’, a level 5 ‘Dark Magic’ spell that similarly fires a ball of darkness of roughly the same size, so it’s like a stronger version of the level 1 spell ‘Dark Ball’.
Did she use ‘No Chant’ and ‘Illusion Magic’ to make it look like she’d actually cast twice as many spells? That’s pretty interesting. Even better, she made ‘Fire Magic’ spells look like ‘Dark Magic’ ones, and vice versa. It’s a neat trick.
“No matter what you do, even you can’t dodge all of these, right?”
Even if half of them are illusions, it would still be hard to avoid or prevent all of them.
…usually that is.
“Continuous Flying Slashes!”
My new favourite technique, ‘Continuous Flying Slashes’, is basically a chain of attacks with the ‘Flying Slash’ skill. (ED: It lets you launch a ranged slashing attack with your sword) When I fought with the dungeon boss on the 50th floor, I used ‘Flying Slash’ to counter its magic attacks, but it ended up going through them and hitting the boss behind them as well.
If I were to repeat the same mistake here, Tsukiyo would surely die, no doubt about it, so I repeated the slashing motion a couple of times, taking care to only hit the approaching magic. My slashes easily destroyed all the spells before flying on towards Tsukiyo, and then dispersing after reaching a point 1m in front of her.
If I do it like this, my attack won’t reach her, right? So I can’t accidentally kill her this way. …as long as she doesn’t move forwards.
-Whoosh!
“Kyaaaa!”
Tsukiyo got blown away by the after-effects of my attack.
…Apparently, I had another misconception. Just the leftover gust of wind from my attack is strong enough to cause damage.
Looking at her status, Tsukiyo seems to have fainted.
“‘Flash Step’!”
I’m not mean enough to let her crash into the ground like this, so I used ‘Flash Step’ and ‘Acceleration’ to move over and catch her. Since I was already close, I also used ‘Monster Taming’ on her at the same time.
“U-um…”
Tsukiyo regained her consciousness a few moments later. I don’t seem to have done much damage. Still, her kimono got slightly peeled off by the blast, so she looks pretty sensational right now.
“Oh, are you awake now?”
“Ah, …I seem to have fainted, …I see, I’ve lost…”
> You tamed the Golden Fox.
> Please give it a name.
Tsukiyo seems to have accepted her defeat, and allowed me to tame her without resisting.
…But, even if she already has a name, do I still have to give her a new one?
“I guess you really managed to tame me. I never expected someone capable of that would actually appear.”
“Well, I really like foxes. So let me pet your tail later.”
“Do as you please. I’m all yours now.”
I’ll take your word for it. I’ll give it a thorough stroking later.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Seeing that the battle was over, Maria and the others approached.

“Thank four your hard work, Jin-sama.”

“Good job, Master.”

“You look tired, but it looks like you’ve tamed her successfully.”

“Right, I took care of the mother Golden Fox, so all that’s left now is the daughter.”

I replied to Maria, as I still held Tsukiyo in my hands. Apparently she had no plans to leave my embrace. Well, she isn’t heavy, so I don’t really mind.

“What do you want to do, Tokoyo? Do you want to entrust yourself to this person?”

“I’m not sure.”

When Tsukiyo asked approaching Tokoyo a question, she gave an immediate answer.

“Do you want to fight me first?”

“No, if I can stay with Mother, I think I’m fine with it.”

Looks like Tokoyo chose to let me tame her without a fight. She must really love Tsukiyo, to follow her even if it means being tamed.

“Then, let me tame you too.”

“Got it.”

Just like with Tsukiyo earlier, I used ‘Monster Taming’ on her.

“Ah…”

“What’s wrong?”

“What’s wrong, Tokoyo?”

Just as I used ‘Monster Taming’ on her, Tokoyo cried out.

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!”

“W-what happened?”

She suddenly screamed in pain and started rolling on the floor.

A: Master, Tokoyo has gone mad.

“What? Was she infected with madness?”

I hurriedly checked her status.

Name: Tokoyo (Madness – Envy)

Level: 5

Gender: Female

Age: 10

Race: Golden Fox (Rare, Rare Variant)

Skills: <Illusion Magic LV1> <Transformation LV5> <Spatial Manipulation LV7>

Curse mark: < Envy LV->

First ‘Gluttony’, then ‘Lust’, and now it’s ‘Envy’…

“What is it!? Tokoyo! Tokoyo!”

Tsukiyo kept calling out her name, but I wanted her to stay calm for now. Didn’t I already cure Tsukiyo’s madness just a moment ago?

“Please calm down. She’s going to be OK now that Master is here.”

“She looks like she’s in pain. Let me heal her quickly.”

“Ah, please do!”

Hearing that, Tsukiyo calmed down a bit. As for me, I used ‘Give and Take’ to disable Tokoyo’s ‘Envy’ curse mark.

“She should be OK now.”

“Ah…”

Tokoyo collapsed to the ground. She seems to have fainted. Looks like going mad puts a lot of strain on your body.

> You tamed the Golden Fox.

> Please give it a name.

Oh, did my taming succeed at the same time? Maybe she accepted it before fainting.

I put down Tsukiyo, who I was still holding, and picked up Tokoyo from the floor.

“Tokoyo…”

“She just fainted. Don’t worry.”

“I see…”

-Zuuu.

I heard something approaching from across the room.

“What is it now?”

“It’s Tokoyo’s ability.”

The subspace created with Tokoyo’s ‘Spatial Manipulation’ was shrinking. It seems to be a kind of skill that comes undone when the user faints.

-Zuuu.

Just like when she activated the skill, but in reverse, the translucent walls approached us making the space shrink down towards the middle. Right when they were about to touch me, I found myself back in the throne room.

“Looks like we’re back.”

“Well, I guess this completes the taming of the mother and daughter Golden Foxes. Even if there was a slight twist at the end.”

Mio commented to herself. Not like she actually did anything this time around.

“That’s right. Just as I disabled ‘Lust’, ‘Envy’ appeared instead.”

“I see. Maybe the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ appear one after the other, like a relay?”

“I thought so too. The day after we defeated the monster with ‘Gluttony’, another one with ‘Lust’ appeared, and the moment I took care of it, ‘Envy’ turned up. Does that mean that another monster somewhere just went mad with another curse mark?”

If so, does that mean there will be a total of seven rampaging monsters in a row? Seems like a major hassle.

“I did get infected with madness yesterday. I managed to endure it until now, but the people in the royal castle still got infected.”

“It’s not too far off from the time when we took down the Giant Man-Eater.”

It looks like our theory that ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ appear in a relay does hold some water. What do you think, Alta?

A: In the past cases of madness, there was no such thing as a relay. However, we can’t totally dispute it.

Oh, is Alta unsure about something? Well, I guess I can’t really expect her to have perfect knowledge when it comes to things like ‘blessings’ and ‘curse marks’.

If you get any new information about monsters with madness, please let me know.

A: I understand.

“For now, I’ve asked Alta to look out for any more monsters that may go mad.”

“The number of Jin-sama’s subordinates has increased considerably. And their information network spans several countries now, so if there are any new cases, we’re sure to hear about them soon.”

“Oh, Master’s subordinates are as impressive as ever.”

“Alta? Subordinates? What are you talking about?”

Tsukiyo tilted her head.

“Right. It’s time we had a chat.”

“Ah, my turn!”

“Please do.”

“Got it!”

The one in charge of explanation was usually either Mio or Alta.

She pulled out some chairs and a table from inventory, set out tea and sweets, and began to explain. It doesn’t really matter, but we’re still in the throne room, you know.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“So, basically, Master travels around, sightseeing and building up his strength. There are many more things to talk about, but this is all you need to know for now.”
This concluded Mio’s general explanation.
“Thank you for explaining. Fufufu, to think my new Master is many times more extraordinary than I had expected.”
“Oh, you’ll have to wait a little longer before you make that assessment. There are still some pretty big names to cover.”
“Is that so? Well, I’ll be surprised a little later then.”
We haven’t talked about how I conquered the dungeon and became a dungeon master yet.
“Even so, these sweets are delicious…”
“Oh, It’s my speciality. You can have a second helping.”
Tsukiyo muttered, eating the sweets lined up in front of us. They were different kinds of cookies made with harpy eggs. What happens when a first-rate chef handles high-quality ingredients? Well, here’s the answer.
“Yay, another helping.”
“Please pace yourself, Sera.”
“What a pity.”
As usual, Sera is a total glutton. Well, it’s definitely delicious enough to make you want more, …is something I’m not gonna say aloud.
“It’s about time you told us your story, Tsukiyo.”
“Where do you want me to start?”
“Why did you rule this country from behind the scenes?”
Since she’d lived for a long time, she probably has many stories to tell, but let’s hear the one that’s most recent and probably most relevant for now.
“Right… The reason why I joined the royal family of this country is…”
Here, Tsukiyo paused for a moment, before looking to the East.
“To kill the Emperor of Crimson Empire, Scarlet Crimson.”
Crimson Empire is our next destination, and the homeland of Rouge, a subordinate of mine. Scarlet, Rouge’s brother, is its current Emperor. On a side note, do all their family members have names connected with the colour red?
“Can I ask why?”
“‘It’s OK, …since Tokoyo is asleep.”
“Is it something to do with her?”
“Yes. Scarlet Crimson is the killer of my best friend, one of Tokoyo’s real parents.”
By ‘real parents’, does she mean she and Tokoyo aren’t connected by blood. She also said ‘It’s OK, …since Tokoyo is asleep’, so she probably doesn’t know about this.
“I had a good friend who was also a Golden Fox, and she married another Golden Fox ten years ago and gave birth to Tokoyo.”
“So, she was one of Tokoyo’s ‘real parents’, right?
“Yes, that’s right. And when I went to visit her when I got the news she had a child, I found her dying, her husband already dead, and only Tokoyo, who had been cleverly hidden, still safe.”
“And the one who did it?”
When I urged her to go on, she nodded and continued.
“Yes, my friend told me it was Scarlet Crimson. He parried all of her attacks and cut through her ‘Illusion Magic’ with his greatsword.”
“Damn…”
Based on what I’ve heard from Rouge and others, I was half-expecting him to be considerably talented, but to think he’d be strong enough to even defeat a Golden Fox.
“My friend was so badly hurt, I couldn’t help her any more. It’s the reason why I tried to learn ‘Recovery Magic’ afterwards.”
The reason why, out of all of Tsukiyo’s magic skills, ‘Recovery Magic’ is the one with the lowest level seems to be that she only started learning it recently.
“I wanted to go and avenge her then and there, but my friend stopped me. ‘You don’t have to take revenge for us, just take care of my daughter.’ she said. So I decided to raise her as my own.”
“And she doesn’t know about this?”
“No, I haven’t told her yet.”
Tsukiyo answered while gently stroking sleeping Tokoyo’s head.
“In hindsight, it would have been difficult for me to take on my friend and her husband’s killer on my own. Scarlet Crimson defeated both of them with ease. If I had tried, there’s no guarantee I would have won.”
“So how does that lead to you taking over this country?”
Does that mean she gave up on getting revenge on Scarlet Crimson?
“I decided not to mess with him directly since I now had little Tokoyo to look after, but I still couldn’t stop thinking about it. Since the other party was the Emperor, I thought I could make him suffer on a national level. This country borders the Empire. It’s pretty small, but I thought I could use it as a basis to gradually build up strength with which to torment Crimson Empire in the future.”
“And the result is this country’s current state…”
“Yes. I moved here a couple of years after I got Tokoyo, and the result is this country now.”
It’s not really relevant, but the King who was previously laying down unconscious by the throne got enslaved by one of the maids some time back and is now recovering in my mansion. He and the other people who got infected with madness won’t wake up any time soon so the maids are looking after them for the time being.
A: I will take care of ‘adjusting’ Master’s new slaves.
At this point, the entire leadership of the country, the King and the royal court, had fallen into my hands.
In Kastal, I took the Queen under my wing. In Estia, I took in one of the princesses and took control of the dungeon, the basis of the country’s economy. And here in Narnka, I now had complete control over the royal palace, the heads of the state.
I can call myself a king now, can’t I? Well, that’s enough nonsense talk for now.
Tsukiyo continued with her story.
“However, that was a big miscalculation on my part. Crimson Empire does not depend on neighbouring countries at all. No matter what happens to their neighbours, they aren’t really affected.”
Crimson Empire does not import any food at all, they cover for all of their needs themselves. In other words, their food self-sufficiency is at 100%.
And when it comes to technology, they apparently prefer to use spies to steal it from other countries, rather than pay for it. The same goes for acquiring items from the dungeon. I guess that kind of makes Rouge a spy too. Well, she’s a double agent now.
It is a rare example of a country that can maintain its own strength without relying on others.
“In the end, it turned out that me ruling over this country had no real effect on Crimson Empire, and when I was just about to give up on revenge, I went mad, and now, here we are.”
“Do you still want to take revenge? If I help you, you’ll have a much better chance of success.”
We were already planning to have a talk with the Emperor of Crimson Empire and try to dissuade him from going to war with Estia. We were prepared to kill him if all else failed, so if Tsukiyo really wants revenge, we could just as well replace him with Empress Rouge from the start.
But she shook her head.
“It’s clear to me now that my late friend didn’t wish for that at all. All she wanted was for Tokoyo to be happy, so this whole revenge was really just for me, and against my friend’s last will. And now that that flame of vengeance in me has already been extinguished, it would be hard to light it back up again.”
She looked to Tokoyo again before continuing.
“If she learns the truth one day and doesn’t forgive the Emperor, it will be a different story. If that happens, I’ll defeat him with my own two hands. Ah, I’m tamed now, so I’m going to need your permission first.”
“Well, I’ll give you permission, or, even better, I’ll just help you instead.”
“If Jin-sama says so, we’ll all do our best to help you, but, Tsukiyo-san, if you really want to know what Tokoyo-chan truly wants, I think you should just ask her now. …You’re awake, right Tokoyo-chan?”
When Maria said that, we all looked to Tokoyo who opened her eyes and raised her head from the table.
“Tokoyo…! You were awake all this time!?”
“Yes.”
“Wait, you knew about it, Maria? Since when?”
Mio, who hadn’t noticed that Tokoyo was awake all this time, interrogated Maria. Me? I knew all the while. I’m not sure if Sera knew, but she kept glancing towards her.
“I noticed she was awake around the time Tsukiyo-san said she was asleep. She probably pretended to still be asleep, not to interrupt you.”
“Yeah…”
If I woke up only to hear that someone was talking under the assumption that I was asleep, …I would have probably done the same.
“Tokoyo, …you were listening.”
“Yeah…”
Both Tsukiyo, who didn’t tell her about her real parents, and Tokoyo, who pretended to be asleep to eavesdrop on our conversation, looked really awkward.
“What you just heard is the truth. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier.”
“It’s OK. Mother is my mother, the one I love. Does Mother not love Tokoyo?”
Tsukiyo bowed her head and apologised, but then he suddenly shook her head in response.
“Of course that’s not the case. I love Tokoyo”
“Then, it’s OK.”
Tsukiyo approached Tokoyo and gave her a light embrace, which Tokoyo returned with a smile.
“Mother, Tokoyo does not want revenge.”
She muttered, while still embracing Tsukiyo.
“Tokoyo, …are you sure you’re OK with that? Your real parents were killed by Scarlet Crimson, you know?”
“It’s OK. I want to be happy. And I want Mother to be happy. Mother said that’s what first mother wanted too.”
First mother being her real mother.
“Yes. My good friend, Tokoyo’s real mother, only wanted for the two of us to be happy, and never said a word about taking revenge on Scarlet Crimson. I’m sure she only mentioned his name to warn me against him.”
“Yeah. So let’s follow first mother’s wishes.”
“…I understand. I will not think about revenge any more. From now on, we’ll live together as Master’s subordinates.”
“Yes.”
Even with the truth revealed, it seems like the relationship between the two did not change at all. Well, since she kept pretending to be asleep, I already knew she wasn’t that disturbed by what Tsukiyo had told us. If she had something to say on that, she would have just said it, right?
“Fufufu, with that, please take good care of the two of us from now on.”
“Please do.”
“Oh, I intend to, so you’d better be prepared.”
“Yes!”
“Un.”
Backstory – Seven Deadly Sins
In the main story, it was only suspected that the Seven Deadly Sins appeared in a relay, but I can confirm it here. I chose to do it like this, in order not to bog down the main story. It’s pretty important, so I didn’t want it to go under the radar.
In the past, a monster with a ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ curse mark would appear in the Atto Union whenever a new Demon Lord appeared. However, with the Heroes avoiding the region, due to it being war-torn most of the time, there was no one left to take care of these monsters, hence they were left to rampage freely (though the relay didn’t always begin with a monster with the ‘Gluttony’ curse mark).
As soon as the Hero defeated the Demon Lord, the rampaging monsters got released from the curse mark, so the relay has never been triggered in the past.
Next time, the final chapter of part 4. The story will continue in part 5 – The Empire. (ED: Last time I wrote that there was one more chapter left in this part (this one), but there’s actually one more, so I deleted it later)
